Trying To Save The World

I feel really blessed in life and I want that blessed feeling to continue so I try to do good things.

I recycle.
I have helped my department at work at work become more paperless.
I donate blood on a regular basis.
I have raised money and committed a lot of time to the charities of Camels with a Cause.
I have donated food to Second Harvest Food Bank.
I am collecting books to start a children's library at a housing complex in Murfreesboro.

Yesterday afternoon I was at a stop light getting ready to get onto the highway from Downtown Nashville. This intersection always has homeless people there asking for money. I usually have no cash on me so I just drive on by while I say a prayer for them. There I was sitting in my SUV about to call someone on my iPhone that I had just gotten out of my Coach purse and wearing a pair of expensive boots. Oh, and I was headed to Target to shop and then on my way home to eat a full dinner and watch my big screen TV in my nice warm house. With all of that going through my head there is no wonder that I felt compelled to give when I saw the guy walk up to my window. This time it was different, I actually had cash to give! I rolled my window to hand him my change. He immediately asked for $5. I gave him what I had already pulled out of my wallet. He looked at it and then back up at me. I told him that it was a $1 coin. "Well, don't you got anymore?" I felt bad when I lied to him and said I didn't when in fact I had about $3 more. He then just walked away and my blood boiled so I called out "YOU"RE WELCOME!" He muttered, "Yeah, thanks."

I was so frustrated with him for not being thankful. That dollar could buy him a hamburger from McDonald's or some water or something else. As I drove towards Target I thought about what had happened. The conclusion that I came to was...when you give you aren't suppose to expect anything in return. The next thought was...but a little "thank you" isn't to much to ask. Is it?!

Don't worry, I will keep trying to save the world one good deed at a time.

Sweet Peas

The doctor said that we could start B on either veggies or fruit, so sweet peas it was.

I believe that we can call this a success. We let Bruiser finish up the sweet peas.

A Not So Happy Halloween

Don't let the pictures fool you, Braxton wasn't feeling 100% for Halloween. However, we still had to let him enjoy the festivities.

Later That Night

After the shots had been in B's system he developed a fever. I'm going to brag for a moment...Braxton is a very easy going child. The only time that he lets out a cry or a scream is when he is hungry. That night no matter what we did for him he was not a happy camper. By the morning you could tell that he was tired of not feeling well. We had been alternating Tylenol and Benadryl. Yeah, we had reached the crapiness trifecta...shots, allergies AND teething.

Four Month Checkup

After our visit to cj, Braxton had his four month check up.

We had Braxton in his Halloween costume and the staff LOVED it!

The first vaccination went well.

Now if only the other three went as well.

Braxton got vaccinated for:
Diphtheria
Tetanus
Pertussis
Hepatitis B
Polio
Haemophilus Influenzae type b (Hib)
Pneumoccal Conjugate
Rotavirus

Four Month and Six Days Stats:
Height (well it's actually still length, right?): 25 inches
Weight: 14 pounds
Head Circumference: 43 centimeters

If you are a percentile person here you go:
Height: 49%
Weight: 28%
Head Circumference: 66%

At this visit everything looked good and so the doctor told us that we could start Braxton on baby food. Wait a moment!! Didn't we just start ceral a week ago? Braxton is growing up so fast! Well, fruits and veggies here we come.

B 2 cj

Yesterday I had the day off so what did I do with my time....I went to work to show off Braxton. As soon as we walked into the office Kim got all excited and took him from me. Then he was passed around to everyone else.

Braxton had just drooled on Laura.

"I don't like kids, but I love him." was April's comment followed by "I hope when I have a kid he is just as cute as Braxton. Gosh, I need a boyfriend, or maybe a husband first."

Michele was getting in a little baby holding practice.
She is due in early December.

The Maid I Am Not!

I always thought that cleaning could kill me....and last night it almost did! I decided that the kitchen needed to be cleaned and it needed to be cleaned right then and there. (Sometimes I wonder who has more OCD tendencies, Jeremy or I.) The dishes were put away, the dishwasher was reloaded and started, the cabinets and table were wiped down with pledge, the counter tops cleaned as well, we had the washing machine and dryer both going...then I got the great idea to clean the oven.

We have lived in the house for about 3 years and I'm pretty sure that I have never cleaned the inside of the stove. Jeremy being Jeremy said, "Well, it's not like the stove gets used a lot." I gently reminded him that even boxed dinners (like we eat a lot) have to be made in the oven. I had to call Jeremy's mom to see what I needed to do and to see if Bruiser would be okay. She said that we were good to go so off I went.

Needless to say after about 30 minutes into the 4 1/2 hour self clean mode Jeremy was coughing and my eyes were burning. Even after we had opened up four windows in the kitchen, one window in the living room, turned the fan on in the living room and the fan on above the stove we were still in not able to breath all that well. We grabbed the air purifier, Bruiser and Braxton and barricaded ourselves in the bedroom with our windows open and the fan on high. Oh course this was the first time that Braxton decided that he didn't want to sleep in the swing. Jeremy had to put up the pack-in-play in our room.

The moral of this story....cleaning can kill you (or at least make you cough and your eyes water) so it's best to leave it up to the professionals!

MTSU Homecoming-2009

A few weeks after my homecoming we went to Jeremy's homecoming at Middle Tennessee State University. Jeremy was so excited to show off his little Kappa Sig legacy.

Cereal Time

At the doctor's appointment on Tuesday I was told that Braxton could start on cereal since he was only a few days away from being 4 months old. I have been putting off starting Braxton on cereal because I read that if you started food too soon then it increases the chances of obesity and diabetes later in life. Neither one of these diseases is something that I want Braxton to have and anything that I could do to prevent them I was going to do! After we left the doctor's office it was off to Wal-Mart to buy the necessary materials for Braxton's adventure into the world of cereal.

I waited until Jeremy came home so that he could be a part of this first for Braxton. So here goes nothing.....

Don't worry Braxton, the rice cereal may have tasted gross but trust me you will make up for it later in life with all of the sugary cereal that you will have.

Another Doctors Visit

I'm going to try to give details without giving too many gross details....I took yesterday off because Braxton had an upset stomach. We realized that his tummy was upset when we went and picked him up on Monday at daycare. There they told us that we had 5 "dirty" diapers. Yeah, I said 5 and all within a 9 hour period. When we took him home he would pass gas and "stuff" would come out the sides of the diaper. After he passed gas he would let out a sigh of relief. We decided that I should take him to the doctor to just make sure that it wasn't something worse then a stomach bug.

We were taken back to the exam room pretty quickly, but once we were there we had to entertain ourselves for a while. We had tummy time, we read books, we played with toys and of course Braxton nibbled on his hand.

When the doctor came in she looked at B's ears (clear), throat (clear), groin area (clear). Since everything was cleared the doctor decided to also do a hearing recheck on Braxton. He needed a follow up after three months so she thought that this was a good time to do it. Braxton needed the hearing test follow up since there was a history of deafness in the family: Jeremy's father wore a hearing aid in one ear his entire life. I am happy to report that Braxton passed his second hearing test and that we wont need another one until is his ready to start school (unless there is a concern).

Shopping Trip

Braxton LOVES shopping...see I have proof!
Okay, really he just loves playing with his toys and watching daddy making funny faces.

It was on this shopping trip that Jeremy and I heard Braxton laugh for the very first time. I'm not talking about the normal baby noises, it was a belly laugh that we both heard. I was so happy to hear the laugh that I actually teared up. I know, I know...I'm still a little hormonal, but that's fine by me. (Jeremy might want to share his thought here.)

Murray's Pumpkin Patch

After the parade we met up with another friend of mine, Paige and her daughter. We went to a local pumpkin patch, after a few detours and had a nice time.

Jeremy and Paige trying to get the kids set up for the photo shoot.

Right before Braxton started crying Kaydence reached for his hand. (I wish that I would have gotten that pic instead of him crying.)

It was really windy that day, so we took a few more pictures and called it a day.

Murray State Homecoming-2009

We went back home for...well, Homecoming at Murray State. I met up with Amy and her family at the parade and heard some great news...she is pregnant with her second child! Congrats Amy and Josh and Ethan and the entire family!!

Gentry's Farm

We went to Gentry's Farm in Franklin, TN the other weekend with some friends.

Jeremy playing with the corn.

We went on a hayride (which Braxton won't remember because he was trying to go to sleep).

On the hayride we say cows eating pumpkins. Who knew that cows liked pumpkins?! I didn't!

Captain Adorable

It's a bird. No.
It's plane. No.
It's Captain Adorable!
